Abstract
The purpose of this study was to obtain baseline data of bony profile of six year-old children for the development of prediction model of craniofacial growth and development.
For this study, the lateral cephalogram were taken at which subjects were 6 years of age. The sample consisted of 367 male and 346 female subjects with on previous orthodontic treatment.
Twenty six linear measurements and eighteen angular measurements were obtained using thirty two landmarks. Statistical comparisions between male and female subjects were performed, and discussed.
The obtained findings were as follows
1. There were no signficant difference between male and female subjects in the length of Pt-Gn, S-Gn, N-Go, S-N, S-Ar,-. Ar-Go, . N:-A, , N-B, N-D, = N-Pog, A-B, A-Pog, FH, ANS-PNS, Me-AGN, Go-Gn, Ba-N, Xi-Pm, Xi-DC and NT-SPog (P<0.05).
2. There were signficant differences between male and female subjects in the length of Go-Me, Pt-FH, SP-SPP and T-TP (P>0.05).
3. There were no signficant difference between male and female subjects in the angle of SN-OaOp, SN-GoGn, NSAr (P<0.05).
4. There were signficant differences between male and female subjects in the angle of SNA, SNB, ANB, SND, FH-NPog, FH-SGn, FH-OaOp, FH-ANSPNS, NAPog, AB-NPog, AB-MeAGN, ANS-XiPm, DC-XiPM, SArGo, Ar-GoGn (P>0.05).
